I still remember one weekend when I sat down to plan a quick trip to Goa.
What should’ve taken an hour somehow turned into a full-blown research project.
I had 30 tabs open, a half-filled Google Sheet, and a phone overheating from all the app switching.
Along with all these, things get worse on mobile.
I opened one link on Google, then another, and within minutes, my phone started lagging, my battery drained, and I was too annoyed to continue.
That’s why I started exploring AI travel planning apps.
Because,
I didn’t want a spreadsheet.
I didn’t want to “read” into 14 blog posts.
I didn’t want to go with Google maps searching.
I just wanted to go somewhere, have a plan, and enjoy the trip.
So I started exploring AI travel planning apps with a hope that one of them can actually make my travel life easier.
After trying out a bunch (and wasting time on a few useless ones), I finally found 7 apps that either:
- Are made in India, or
- Actually understand how we Indians travel (budget, trains, last-minute plans… you get it).
Some of these helped me with train journeys, a couple were great for weekend trips, and one even planned a full international holiday.
No, I didn’t go international, that one was for a friend. I’m still waiting for my Bali moment.
If you’ve been stuck in travel planning hell like I was, I hope this list saves you some scrolling.
Let’s get into it 👇
Best AI trip planner apps I’ve actually tried and liked
This isn’t one of those “50 apps that may or may not work” kind of lists.
These are apps I’ve personally tried, messed around with, and found actually useful. Especially if you’re someone who loves the idea of traveling but hates the planning chaos.
Let’s go one by one 👇
Ixigo AI trip planner
Launched way back in 2007, this one’s been around for a while and honestly, it’s a lifesaver when I’m figuring out trains, especially during last-minute trips.
Ixigo just gets Indian travel. It pulls PNR status, shows train availability, predicts waitlist chances, and also suggests cheap flights.
One time, it even helped me to book a flight (a domestic one 😅) a day earlier to save ₹1,800. I mean… who doesn’t like that?
Being human, we all like discounts, especially as Indians. Don’t you?
But here’s what makes Ixigo even better now: they’ve added this cool AI feature called PLAN, a smart trip planner powered by OpenAI.
I tried it recently when I had no clue what to do in Udaipur. Instead of hopping through five different sites, I just opened the trip planner, entered a few details, and boom.
It gave me suggestions for
👉 where to stay,
👉 what to do,
👉 what to eat, and even
👉 what time of day certain places are best to visit.
It actually knows what I like including weather-wise recommendations and restaurant ideas that weren’t just the top 3 from Tripadvisor.
Also, I can even pick a trip’s “theme” (like nature, adventure, culture) and get a personalized itinerary around it.
Key features of Ixigo AI trip planner
- PNR and seat availability tracking for trains
- AI fare prediction for flights
- AI-powered “PLAN” feature for smart, customized itineraries
- Alerts for cheaper alternatives
- IRCTC integration, so I don’t have to jump apps
Pricing of Ixigo AI trip planner
Free to use.

Also: If you’re into discovering AI tools beyond travel planning, here’s a list of the best AI apps worth checking out.
Travel Buddy
Based in SECTOR – 81, Gurugram, Haryana, this travel AI app surprised me.
It is built especially for GenZ, solo travelers, and travel enthusiasts who love to explore new places with like-minded people.
And the way it works is pretty cool.
How?
Travel Buddy connects you with locals (aka “buddies”) who’ve been where you want to go.
And know it way better than any blog or influencer.
I used it while planning a Sikkim trip, and I found (chat with) a guy from Gangtok who sent me a full 3-day itinerary with actual local food spots, not the usual tourist traps.
| “The best way to understand a place is to ask a local, they’ll tell you about the real hidden gems.”, said by me, haha! |
You might’ve already heard of this one.
And if you’re wondering, does it stop at just buddies?
Nope.
The app also finds cheap flight options, helps you build a full plan, and even shows offbeat stays and things to do
Here’s how I used it:
- Downloaded the app from the Play Store
- Searched for the destination
- Told the AI my vibe like “trekking”, “wild-life”, “road trip” or “offbeat nature”
- Selected my month of travel, traveler type (solo, couple, family, etc.), and budget
- Hit “Plan My Trip”… and done.
Within seconds, it gave me a suggested plan, with experiences, local stays, and even contact options for buddies I could message directly.
Key features of Travel Buddy
- Find travel partners and friends travelling to the same destination
- Choose from handpicked travel packages curated by local experts and influencers. From Kerala backwaters to Bali beaches.
- You’ll find fixed departures for both domestic and international locations. Perfect for solo travelers who love community vibes.
- It has smart filters to match you with other travelers by age, gender, destination, and travel dates.
- Post travel stories, itineraries, and trip reviews. Ask questions, share tips, and connect with India’s fastest-growing travel community of over 4 million users.
Pricing of Travel Buddy
Travel Buddy Mini: Free
Travel Buddy PRO: INR 499 per month
Travel Buddy SUPER: INR 83 per month, billed yearly.

Also: If you’re on Android like me, here’s a bunch of AI apps that actually work well.
Roam Around
I came across this app while browsing the Play Store during a break. I wasn’t expecting much, but the concept seemed interesting, so I gave it a shot.
Roam Around is built on ChatGPT-powered AI (yes, the same tech everyone’s talking about) to create personalized travel plans in seconds.
How?
The idea is simple:
👉 You tell it where you’re going
👉 How many days you’ll be there
👉 How much time you want to spend sightseeing each day
👉 What is your budget
👉 How many people are going (ofcourse including you 😅)
In return, it gives you a ready-made itinerary with popular spots, local places, and food recommendations all laid out.
I tried it for a short Jaipur trip.
I typed in: “I want to travel Jaipur for 2 days with around 5 hours sightseeing per day.”
And it gave me a plan that actually made sense. Nothing fancy, just clear suggestions for how to spend each day.
And the most lovable part of Roam Around is 👇
If there was a place I didn’t want to visit, I simply just remove it and regenerate a new plan. That flexibility made it way easier to tweak things without starting over.
It reminded me how useful AI can be in general, not just for travel, but even for basic day-to-day stuff like writing notes, organising tasks, or staying on top of work.
If you’re curious, here are some AI tools I found helpful for productivity.
Key features of Roam Around
- You’ll get quick plans in under a minute
- Daily itineraries that match your pace and style
- Includes both tourist spots and hidden gems
- Built-in food suggestions which is helpful when you’re hungry and clueless (my fav. one)
- Option to remove or swap places easily
Pricing of Roam Around
- 30 tokens for USD 5
- 80 tokens for USD 10
- 150 tokens for USD 15
1 travel token = 1 travel plan
Ratings and reviews of Roam Around
- 4.7 out of 5 stars (100 reviews) on App Store
- 4.4 out of 5 stars (443 reviews) on Google Play Store
iplan.ai
iplan.ai is what I’d call the “planner’s planner.”
If you’re someone who likes having a clear structure before a trip like where to go, when to go, and how long to spend. This app does a pretty good job of that.
It asks you a few simple questions:
- How many days are you traveling?
- With whom will you travel?
- What kind of trip is it, road trip, nature, city, chill?
- What’s your rough budget?
- What are your interests?
Once you put that in, it builds a day-wise plan (to precise, minute-by-minute) for you with a clear breakdown of which places to visit and in what order, based on your inputs.
I tried it for a Delhi–Agra weekend trip.
The app suggested a couple of routes, places to stop along the way, and even sorted the schedule with some buffer time (which, we all need).
It also lets you edit anything. Add your own spots, delete places you don’t care about, and even share the plan with your travel group.
Key features of iplan.ai
- You can view plans on a travel map (like Roadtrippers and Wanderlog)
- Get directions on your favorite application (Google map, Apple map, Waze)
- You can also add things-to-do from top guides with 1 click (like Tripadvisor and Google Trips/Google Travel)
- You’ll get access to your trip plans offline
Pricing of iplan.ai
It offers a free plan for its AI-powered travel planner to allow users to create and customize itineraries at no cost.
Ratings and reviews of iplan.ai
- 4.5 out of 5 stars (1.4K reviews) on App Store
- 3.7 out of 5 stars (6.12K reviews) on Google Play Store
Let’s Trip
I love this one for quick, spontaneous trips.
Especially when I don’t have the time or energy to plan anything properly.
Like that one time I decided to go to Lucknow. I had zero plans, no notes, nothing.
I opened the app, typed in “in Lucknow” because it told me to enter at least 10 characters. And within seconds, it gave me a day-wise itinerary with local activities, food suggestions, and places to visit.
See – https://letstrip.ai/trip?link=in-lucknow-559323
It’s not overloaded with features like some big-name apps, but for Indian destinations, Let’s Trip honestly works better than most international ones I’ve tried.
To be honest, now I use it before every trip I’m going on.
Because after putting my basic plan I get a rough outline, and then tweak it a bit based on what I actually feel like doing.
It doesn’t try to be perfect, which weirdly makes it more useful.
Key features of Let’s Trip
- You can easily add extra spots to your plan based on what you actually want to see.
- Shows tips and hidden places shared by other Reddit users
- Highlights events, shows, and festivals happening at your destination during your trip.
- Suggests music playlists from Spotify to match your travel mood, great for long drives.
- Gives food and cafe suggestions near your planned stops to help you when you’re hungry.
- Shows hotel options and price trends so you can decide when (or if) you want to book.
Pricing of Let’s Trip
Basic AI Model: Free to use with limitations.
Premium AI Model: USD 1.99 per itinerary
Enterprise: Custom pricing.
Ratings and reviews of Let’s Trip
Currently Let’s Trip offers its services from their website only and they don’t have any official app.
Also: I’ve started using AI for everything, not just trip planning. From writing to organizing life, this guide has some cool everyday AI tools that I use.
Traveleva
I first used it while planning a short trip to Vrindavan.
I literally just typed “Vrindavan” in the search, and the app pulled up a proper itinerary with temple timings, seasonal tips, and even notes like “Best time to visit: January to March or October to December”.
What I remember most is, timings, entry price (if any), and even a short note on its architecture.
That’s when I realised it’s actually quite helpful for trips where you want peace of mind and structure.
Traveleva feels like that one calm, dependable friend who quietly figures everything out in the background.
It doesn’t try to wow you with flashy designs, it just gets the job done.
Additionally, it offers customized international travel packages to destinations like Dubai, Bali, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Maldives, Mauritius, and more.
Key features of Traveleva
- Create trip itineraries, collaborate with friends, book flights and hotels, organize road trips with maps.
- Add multiple stops, find the best routes, and track distances.
- Rearrange destinations easily with drag and drop to plan efficient routes.
- It streamlines your travel experience no matter whether you’re travelling solo, with family, or groups.
- It can track, split, and manage all your trip expenses. Record spending and easily manage group budgets for simple bill settling.

Pickyourtrail
I didn’t use Pickyourtrail one for myself.
But I used it while helping a friend plan her honeymoon to Europe.
And honestly… this app handled almost everything.
Flights, hotels, visa stuff, local SIM, on-trip updates.
She barely had to Google anything. The app gave her daily reminders, flight info, even food recs in Paris.
It’s definitely on the premium side, not a budget travel tool.
But if you want everything planned and ready, it can do it all for you.
Instead of jumping between 5 travel sites, you just answer a few questions and it builds your full itinerary. It even recommends good hotels, sends real-time flight updates, and has a live concierge if anything goes wrong mid-trip.
Also the nice part about using this is, all your vouchers and bookings stay in one place, so you don’t need to dig through 50 emails at the airport.
Key features of Pickyourtrail
- You don’t have to settle for a boring group tour anymore. The app lets you build a trip your way.
- You get a custom feed with travel tips, packing checklists, guides, and useful stuff based on your trip type.
- Even if you’re not flying out, they’ve got deals for places around India like beach resorts near Chennai or luxury spots in Kerala.
- Its travel now pay later feature lets you split the trip cost into no-cost EMIs. Super helpful when you want to go big without wiping your account.
- If you’re confused or stuck, certified travel experts help you tweak plans and bookings based on your budget or vibe.
Pricing of Pickyourtrail
Pickyourtrail’s AI trip planner and travel app is free to use for planning and customizing itineraries.
